Consul General Neil Ferrer hands a token to King County Executive Dow Constantine

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON, USA – Consul General Neil Ferrer paid a courtesy call on King County Executive Dow Constantine at the Executive’s Office on 27 August 2024.

Both sides discussed possible areas of cooperation between the Philippines and King County. They also noted the significant contribution of the Filipino American community in the county in particular, and in Washington state, in general. There are an estimated 76,000 Filipinos in King County.

Consul General Ferrer shared with the Executive the active exchanges between the Philippines and the United States in terms of political, economic, and people-to-people engagements. He underscored the strong and steadfast bilateral relationship, as indicated by high-level meetings and exchanges at all levels in recent years.

Executive Constantine discussed some of his major programs and initiatives in King County. These include climate change action, economic recovery, and equal opportunity efforts, among others.

Consul General Ferrer also shared information about the maiden flight of the Philippines’ flag carrier, Philippine Airlines (PAL), from Manila to Seattle in October 2024. The Consul General expressed hope that this development would further boost tourism on both sides, and enhance economic and trade exchanges, and people-to-people engagements. END
