CONSUL GENERAL FERRER WELCOMES NEW PHILIPPINE TRADE COMMISSIONER

San Francisco, California- Consul General Neil Ferrer welcomed on 03 September 2024 Ms. Anne Marie Kristine Umali as she assumed her new role as Trade Commissioner at the Philippine Trade & Investment Center (PTIC) – Silicon Valley.
PTIC – Silicon Valley, a government agency under the Department of Trade and Industry, is dedicated to promoting the Philippines as a prime investment destination and facilitating trade between the Philippines and the United States.
“I welcome the addition of Trade Commissioner Umali to the Consulate,” said Consul General Ferrer. “Her vast experience in Philippine trade and investments will undoubtedly strengthen our efforts to advance the Philippines as a prime investment destination and partner of the United States.”
Ms. Umali will cover Northern and Central California, Alaska, Northern Nevada, Colorado, Idaho, Utah, Montana, Washington, Oregon, and Wyoming. In her role, she will be responsible for promoting the Philippines’ trade and investment interests through investment promotion, export and trade promotion, trade policy negotiations, and commercial and market intelligence.
Ms. Umali brings extensive experience in the field of trade and investment. She previously served as Commercial Counsellor and Director of PTIC in Moscow, Russia, and as Commercial Attaché and Director of PTIC in London. Prior to her diplomatic postings, she held supervisory positions at the Department of Trade & Industry and the private sector.
Ms. Umali’s diverse background encompasses marketing, commercial and economic diplomacy, public relations, finance and economics, microfinance, events organization and management, bidding and procurement, and international trade. Her expertise in these areas will undoubtedly contribute to the success of her role at PTIC – Silicon Valley. END
