Consul General Neil Frank R. Ferrer met with Marine Exchange of Alaska (MXAK) Deputy Director Matt York and Chief Operating Officer John Hollingsworth during his visit to Juneau on 7-9 July 2021.   MXAK is a non-profit organization that seeks to “provide information, communications, and services to promote safe, secure, efficient, and environmentally responsible maritime operations.” Consul General Ferrer and his team were briefed on the mission, programs, and activities of MXAK. Talks with MXAK centered on the organization’s role in responding to maritime emergencies, saving lives of mariners, and in enhancing maritime safety and environmental protection – issues that are of interest to the Philippines, given its status as a maritime state and as a global supplier of  maritime labor.
