Consul General Ferrer Speaks at Asia Society Panel

SAN FRANCISCO, 23 May 2022 – Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Neil Frank R. Ferrer participated in Asia Society Northern California’s Four Consuls General event that focused on “Emerging Tech” in Asia on 19 May 2022.

Consul General Ferrer joined Consul General T.V. Nagendra Prasad of India, Consul General Prasetyo Hadi of Indonesia, and Deputy Consul General and Trade and Investment Commissioner at Australian Trade and Investment Commissioner Odette Hampton in discussing technology trends, opportunities, and challenges in Asia. Ms. Priya Rajan, Market Lead for India and MENA in Silicon Valley Bank’s international market development team, Global Gateway, served as moderator.

“Now is the best time to do business in the Philippines,” Consul General Ferrer emphasized, noting the country’s rapid recovery from the pandemic and the robust growth of the Philippine economy. He noted that the pandemic accelerated digital transformation in businesses, processes and daily transactions of Filipinos, seen in the emergence of startups, the rapid growth of e-commerce, fintech, digital, and use of AI in the country. “We have a growing innovation ecosystem with global strengths in ICT goods and services exports,” Consul General Ferrer added.
