ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Philippine Consul General to San Francisco Neil Frank Ferrer paid a courtesy call on Anchorage Mayor Suzanne LaFrance at the Anchorage City Hall on 21 September 2024, at the sidelines of the consular outreach program of the Philippine Consulate General in the city.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the Filipinos and Filipino Americans working and residing in the city and their significant contributions in the growth and development of Anchorage in particular and of Alaska in general.
Both sides also took the opportunity to discuss possible areas of cooperation between the City of Anchorage and the Philippines. Consul General Ferrer noted the robust economic growth of the Philippines which makes it an ideal destination for business expansion in Asia for Alaskan companies. They also discussed the possibility of sharing best practices in supporting entrepreneurs, especially startups.
Both officials also noted the forthcoming Filipino American History Month celebration in October.
There are more than 18,000 Filipinos and Filipino Americans living in Anchorage, according to the American Community Survey.
