Consul General Ferrer Meets with PH-based Digital Infra Developer YCO Cloud
MANILA, 20 July 2023 – Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Neil Frank R. Ferrer met with data centers and digital infrastructure developer and YCO Cloud founder Mr. Nik de Ynchausti on 13 July 2023
YCO Global Cloud Centers Holdings, Inc. and its subsidiary, YCO Cloud Malvar Inc. launched in early July its first project, YCO Cloud Campus One, a 12MW TIA 942/ISO 22237 Rated III data center that is carrier-neutral. YCO Cloud has also partnered with CloudCenters, LLC, a San Francisco, California-based data center advisor and developer, to guide the development of its first project.
According to Mr. Ynchausti, the construction of the data center is specifically designed to preserve and protect the resources of its environs. “Our goal is to ensure that the data center does not negatively impact the resources of the community and the surrounding environment.”
Consul General Ferrer welcomed the updates from Mr. Ynchausti and Attorney Abigail Valte, member of the Founding Team and head of the Legal, Compliance and Governance unit of the company. “With the Philippines’ strategic location and growing digital economy, the development of data centers bodes well for the industry that has a growing demand for such critical digital infrastructure,” Consul General Ferrer said.
Located in the Light Industry and Science Park IV in Malvar, Batangas, YCO Cloud Campus One aims to meet market demand for co-location, build-to-suit, enterprise, hyperscale, powered shell, and private data hall suites.
The site is strategically located with proximity to critical network infrastructure, such as the Cable Landing station (CLS) in Nasugbu, Batangas where all the major carriers have a presence enabling the data centers to serve both domestic and regional markets.
According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the digital economy contributed 9.4 percent to the country’s Gross Domestic Product in 2022, amounting to PhP 2.08 trillion. According to the PSA, more than 50 million people have access to the Internet in the country, based on a 2020 census of population and housing. Meanwhile, Statista.com noted the growth in the number of Internet users in the Philippines in 2020, totalling approximately 79 million people or more than half of the total population. END
