SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA – Philippine Consul General to San Francisco Neil Frank Ferrer joined thousands of spectators in Oracle Park on 28 August 2023 in celebrating the San Francisco Giants’ Filipino Heritage Night.

Sarina Bolden, who made history as she scored the Philippines’ first-ever goal in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in the country’s win against New Zealand on July 25, threw the ceremonial first pitch. Bolden’s Filipina mother has roots in Pangasinan while Sarina, a Filipino American, grew up in the Bay Area.

Mayor London Breed declared 28 August 2023 as “Sarina Bolden Day” in San Francisco.

Musical artist and songwriter Tracy Cruz sang the U.S. national anthem, while Parangal Dance Company, Ruth Asawa School of the Arts, and Mabuhay Folkloric Society showcased Philippine cultural performances.

The Giants played against the Cincinnati Reds and won 4-1. END
