Consul General Ferrer Calls on South San Francisco Mayor, Tackles Culture and Heritage Promotion, and Biotechnology Developments in SSF

21 September 2022 – Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Neil Frank Ferrer called on South San Francisco Mayor Mark Nagales on 20 September 2022 at South San Francisco City Hall.  Mayor Nagales was joined by Vice Mayor Buenaflor Nicolas.

During the call, Consul General Ferrer discussed the various activities of the Consulate, including possible collaboration with the city of South San Francisco. He lauded current initiatives by the city to promote Fil-Am heritage, including the Pasig Fiesta and the Sister City Agreement between South San Francisco and Pasig City.

Consul General Ferrer also sought to obtain more information on the latest developments on the biotechnology industry in South San Francisco, which is considered as the center of the most dynamic biotech and tech region in the world. He expressed hope that the Consulate and the City Council could work together in bridging Filipino startups in the biotech sector with the big players in the city.

Consul General Ferrer congratulated Mayor Nagales and Vice Mayor Nicolas for being one of the first Filipino Americans elected in South San Francisco. Consul General Ferrer noted the pride they bring not only to the Filipino American community in the United States but to fellow Filipinos worldwide.

Both officials expressed readiness to collaborate more closely with the Consulate in future activities to engage and support the Filipino American community under their jurisdiction. END
