Filipino Food Month (Buwan ng Kalutong Pilipino) takes place in April each year. The month was created in 2018 via Philippine Presidential Proclamation No. 469 to showcase, appreciate and preserve Filipino culinary heritage, as well as the farmers, fishermen, chefs, purveyors and everyone in the culinary community who make it all possible!

The Filipino Food Movement (FFM) is a nonprofit organization established in 2014 in San Francisco, California, to create broad awareness, appreciation and enhanced investment in Filipino Culinary Arts. FFM’s mission is to preserve, promote and progess Filipino cuisine through education and community building.

In partnership with the Philippine Consulates General in San Francisco and New York City, Philippine Departments of Tourism in San Francisco and New York City, Philippine Trade & Investment Centers Silicon Valley and New York City, FFM is launching a new initiative — FILIPINO FOOD MONTH 2024 — to create awareness about Filipino cuisine in America, from coast to coast. With this project, we will recognize the contributions of Filipino chefs and restaurateurs to the culinary scene, and encourage the development of new and innovative dishes.

CELEBRATING THE PHILIPPINE COCONUT

This year, we’re featuring the Philippine coconut and its many culinary byproducts.  As such, we encourage all participating chefs and food/beverage establishment owners to use the various *made in the Philippines* coconut products into your special menu, which include:

  • Coconut vinegar
  • Coconut milk
  • Coconut sugar
  • Coconut butter
  • Coconut oil
  • Coconut water
  • Coconut meat
  • Coconut rum
  • Macapuno & Nata de Coco
  • And many others

Our partners from the Department of Trade and Industry will be providing a full list of accessible products from local grocery stores, Filipino food distributors and retailers. Where available, we are happy to broker wholesale bulk prices for you.

THE ASKS

Be a part of our global directory by filling out the form below!

If available, participate by creating a “Prix Fixe Menu,” a “Weekly Chef’s Special,” or “Special Menu” during a specific week in April to showcase a signature dish or drink and introduce new flavors and dishes to their menu featuring any coconut product that’s made in the Philippines, such as coconut rum, coconut sugar, coconut vinegar, coconut chips, and more!

For the passport program, please see our East & West Coast territories that are eligible. See more info in Section 2.

THE MARKETING CAMPAIGN

We will launch a robust social media and marketing campaign to encourage members of our community to support local Filipino restaurants, food trucks and businesses during FILIPINO FOOD MONTH.

Our goal is for people to come together to celebrate and discover the amazing flavors of Filipino cuisine. We also hope that this event will support the economic recovery of our neighborhoods and local small businesses.

We invite you to fill out this survey so that we can include your place of business in the global directory and national marketing campaign. Feel free to forward this survey to other people in your network so we can generate a comprehensive list and continue to make Filipino food accessible for everyone to enjoy.

If you have any questions, contact us at [email protected] or DM us on Instagram (@filipinofoodmovement).
