SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco attended the opening night of Disney’s The Lion King Jr. presented by the NorCal Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA), in association with Evergreen Studio of Music & the Arts (ESOMA), at the Hammer Theatre Center of San José State University on 26 June 2026.

The Consulate was represented by Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil, Vice Consul Hannah Eloisse Go, and Economic Assistant Danica Vismonte, who joined community leaders, families, and supporters in celebrating a production that showcased the talents of young performers, ranging from two to fifteen years old.

Produced and directed by Filipino American educator and NAPA Founder and Executive Director Ms. Elvie Barron Teodoro, the three-day production reflects NAPA’s mission of making quality performing arts education affordable and accessible to children and youth of all skill levels and abilities. During the opening program, organizers recognized the invaluable contributions of parent volunteers, artistic teams, sponsors, and community partners whose dedication has sustained NAPA’s mission for over 15 years. California State Assemblymember Ash Kalra (Assembly District 25) was likewise recognized for his continued advocacy for youth development through the arts and presented a Certificate of Recognition to Ms. Teodoro in honor of her contributions to the community.
