PCG San Francisco Honors Filipino Grandmaster Angel Cabales

Consul General Arnel G. Talisayon presented a certificate of recognition to the late Grandmaster Angel Cabales during a ceremony at the Legacy Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) studio in Daly City on 06 June 2026. The certificate was accepted on behalf of the Cabales family by his son, Grandmaster Vincent Cabales. The ceremony was hosted by Mr. Joseph Bautista and honored the late Grandmaster Cabales for his contributions to Filipino martial arts.

Grandmaster Angel Cabales, known as the Father of Eskrima in the United States, brought immense honor to the Philippines by introducing and formalizing the Cabales Serrada Eskrima, a close‑range Filipino martial arts, in California. Through his Stockton-based school—the first Eskrima school in the U.S.—he preserved Filipino martial arts traditions and elevated global recognition of FMA, training generations of practitioners who carried Philippine martial arts heritage into the international spotlight.

Grandmaster Angel Cabales’ legacy lives on through his son Grandmaster Vincent Cabales, who continues to teach and preserve Serrada Eskrima with the same discipline, precision, and cultural pride his father embodied. Together with dedicated Filipino martial artists and community groups across California and beyond, they ensure that Cabales’ contributions to Filipino Martial Arts remain vibrant, respected, and proudly tied to the Philippines’ heritage.

Mr. Joseph Bautista shares that Legacy Filipino Martial Arts proudly preserves GM Angel Cabales’ legacies through the eskrima classes in his studio in Daly City
