SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco joined the 2026 Fil-Grad Ceremony organized by the Kasamahan at University of San Francisco (USF), a Filipino-American student organization, held on 9 May 2026 at the McLaren Complex, University of San Francisco. This year’s ceremony carried the theme “Pangako: The Promise Taking Shape”.

A total of 54 graduating Filipino and Filipino American seniors were recognized during the event. Mr. Nicholas Martelino delivered remarks on behalf of the graduating class, while achievement awards and commemorative stoles were conferred upon the graduates.

Professor Tony Villegas, co-founder of the Kasamahan at USF, delivered the keynote address. In his speech, he recounted the organization’s history since its establishment in 1972 and highlighted its mission of promoting unity, solidarity, and Filipino culture within both the university and the wider community. He also discussed the organization’s longstanding traditions and signature activities, including the Philippine Cultural Night, and reflected on how these initiatives have evolved through the years.

In his remarks, Consul General Arnel G. Talisayon congratulated the graduates and commended their families, mentors, and supporters for their unwavering encouragement and guidance throughout the students’ academic journey. He also wished the graduates success as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.

During the ceremony, the newly elected Executive Board members of Kasamahan at USF for Academic Year 2026-2027 were formally inducted and took their oath to continue empowering members through community engagement and cultural advocacy.

The event served not only as a celebration of the graduates’ academic achievements, but also as a meaningful affirmation of Filipino heritage.

Kasamahan at USF is one of the largest student organizations at the University of San Francisco and has long promoted Philippine culture, traditions and community engagement both within the university and beyond. END
