PH Consulate Joins the Sampaguita Senior International Club’s Induction of Officers

San Jose, California – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, represented by Deputy Consul General and Acting Head of Post Maria Paz Cortes, Vice Consul Glaiza Quarteros, and Cultural Officer Anne Estoya, graced the Sampaguita Senior International Club’s (SSIC) induction ceremony of new officers held at the Roosevelt Community Center on 17 January 2026.

Mr. Tim Orozco, Field Representative from the Office of Assemblymember Alex Lee served as the inducting officer of the new set of SSIC officers for 2026-2028. Also in attendance were Daly City Arts and Culture Commissioner Dorie Paniza and members of various organizations such as the FilCom of Santa Clara County, D’Ageless Seniors Club, Santa Maria Ilocos Sur Association, Philippine Professional Business Society, Magsingal Ilocos Sur Association, and Sundance Group.

In her remarks, Deputy Consul General Cortes underscored the important role of organizations such as SSIC in creating meaningful programs and initiatives which are beneficial not only for their members but also in uplifting the Filipino American community. She conveyed warm congratulations to the newly inducted President Josie Marinas, immediate past President Edith Cabreros, and other officers, and encouraged SSIC to continue being ambassadors of goodwill, champions of Filipino culture and heritage, and pillars of unity in the United States.

Deputy Consul General Cortes also highlighted that the Philippines and the United States will commemorate a historic milestone this year: the 80th Anniversary of the Philippines-United States Diplomatic Relations. For eight decades, the two nations have shared a partnership rooted in shared values, mutual respect, and deep people-to-people ties. Organizations such as the Sampaguita Senior International Club, and many others like it, play a vital role in preserving and strengthening this enduring relationship. END
