San Francisco, California – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco participated in the recently held 23rd Annual Lantern Festival on 13 December 2025 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. The said event was organized by the SOMA Pilipinas and the Filipino American Development Foundation (FADF).
During the parol stroll in the Yerba Buena Gardens which was participated in by various Filipino American organizations, the Consulate went traditional as it showcased a miniature-size bahay kubo made of indigenous materials and decorated with capiz shells and wood ornaments which housed the Holy Family. To complement its entry, the Consulate also played well-loved Filipino Christmas carols.
The Parol Lantern Festival is the first Filipino Christmas lantern festival in the U.S. Established in 2003, the festival has become a yearly tradition among Filipino Americans in San Francisco and the Bay Area to enjoy Christmas the Filipino way through parol-making, music, and food.
