DALY CITY, 31 July 2025 – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco joined the Filipino American community in celebrating the grand opening of Seafood City’s newest branch in Daly City, marking the 38th store of the popular Filipino supermarket chain across North America.

Consul General Neil Frank R. Ferrer led the Consulate delegation, accompanied by Economic Officer Consul Rowena R. Pangilinan-Daquipil and Trade Commissioner Anne Marie Kristine Umali of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center – Silicon Valley (PTIC-SV).

Seafood City Chairman Steve Go, CEO Carlos Go, and COO Benjamin Matthew Go led the ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside Daly City Vice Mayor Glenn Sylvester, Councilmembers Juslyn Manalo and Pamela DiGiovanni, and ABS-CBN Foundation U.S. Managing Director Lisa Cabahug.

Founded in 1989 in National City, California, Seafood City has become a household name among Filipino American families, offering a wide variety of Filipino and Asian food products and prepared meals. The new Daly City branch reflects the continued growth of the Filipino American community, particularly in Daly City, often referred to as the “Pinoy capital” of the Bay Area.

Consul General Ferrer highlighted that Seafood City is more than just a supermarket—it is a cultural anchor that helps preserve Filipino heritage and culinary traditions. “This latest opening is a testament to the enduring presence and economic vitality of the Filipino American community, and its role in promoting trade and cultural exchange between the Philippines and the United States,” he said.

In addition to its core offerings, the new store features a bakery and expanded dining options including Noodle Street and Sizzle, along with crowd favorite Grill City.

Prior to the official opening, Deputy Consul General Maria Paz G. Cortes and Consul Pangilinan-Daquipil also attended Seafood City’s Community Night on 29 July. The event brought together local leaders, business owners, and community members for an evening of food tastings, live music, and cultural performances by the Parangal Dance Company.

Seafood City’s continued expansion reflects the growing demand for Filipino products in North America.
