SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA – On 27 June 2025, the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco witnessed the military tradition of formally transferring the command of the U.S. Coast Guard Barque Eagle at the Pier 17 Embarcadero.

During the change of command ceremony, which was facilitated by Presiding Officer, Vice Admiral Nathan Moore, Captain Jessica Rozzi-Ochs turned over the command of the USCG Barque Eagle to Captain Kristopher Ensley.

Consulate representatives congratulated Captain Rozzi-Ochs, the 30th Commanding Officer of the USCG Eagle, on the successful completion of her tour of duty from 2022 to 2025, highlighting her outstanding feat as the very first female captain of the training ship. They also congratulated Capt. Ensley as he assumed command of the Eagle. As the USCGC Eagle has visited the Philippines only once in the late 1980s, they also expressed the hope of a possible mission of the Eagle to the Philippines during his command.

The USCG Eagle, built in 1936, docked in San Francisco for the first time since 2008 and was open to the public on 28 June 2025. It is on its annual summer training session where cadets from the USCG Academy learn about navigation, ship-handling, engineering, and leadership skills. END
