San Francisco, CA – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco joined leading technology and policy stakeholders at the inaugural U.S.–Philippines Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit, held on 20 June 2025 at Bishop Auditorium, Stanford University. Consul General Neil Frank R. Ferrer delivered remarks at the landmark event, which brought together innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers from the Philippines and the United States.

The Summit was co-organized by the Philippine Artificial Intelligence Retreat (PAIR), led by Oliver Segovia and Jordana Valencia; the Philippine Development (PhilDev) Foundation, founded by Dado and Maria Banatao; and the U.S.–Asia Technology Management Center of Stanford University, headed by Dr. Richard Dasher.

Consul General Ferrer, joined by Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil, PTIC-Silicon Valley Trade Commissioner Anne Marie Kristine Umali, and Political Assistant Lalaine Bacha, highlighted the Philippines’ active pursuit of an AI-ready ecosystem, supported by interagency efforts from the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Information and Communications Technology, Department of Education, and leading academic institutions such as the University of the Philippines.

In his remarks, the Consul General underscored the Philippine government’s commitment to promoting ethical, inclusive, and sustainable AI development, and emphasized the importance of U.S.–Philippines partnerships in driving innovation across sectors including healthcare, manufacturing, education, and agriculture. He also called for concrete outcomes from the summit, such as research exchanges, startup opportunities, pilot programs, and collaboration to promote responsible AI governance.

The Summit featured keynote talks and fireside chats with industry leaders such as Sheila Lirio Marcelo, Founder and CEO of Ohai.ai, and Raiza Martin, Co-Founder of Huxe and former Head of Product for Google’s NotebookLM. Both speakers shared insights on the role of AI in household technology, consumer products, entrepreneurship, and inclusive tech ecosystems.

The event also showcased the work of Philippine AI Retreat (PAIR) Fellows through panel discussions on human capital development, enterprise innovation, healthcare access, and AI-powered education tools. The Consulate commended these efforts as aligned with the Philippines’ broader digital transformation goals.

The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco continues to support platforms like the U.S.–Philippines AI Summit that promote international collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and inclusive technological growth.
