ANCHORAGE, ALASKA, USA – Consul General Neil Ferrer met with Ms. Lisa Eyler, President and CEO of Alaska World Affairs Council on 21 September 2024 at the sidelines of the consular outreach mission of the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco in Anchorage, Alaska.

Consul General Ferrer underscored the importance of bringing the services of the Consulate to Alaska owing to the sizable Filipino-American community in the state. Ms. Eyler lauded the Consulate for such undertaking.

Ms. Eyler offered the support of Alaska World Affairs Council in arranging activities or hosting a roundtable should officials from the Philippines visit Anchorage in the future. She also suggested speaking engagements in school and universities not only because of the significant number of students who are of Filipino descent but also because of the knowledge and insights on the Philippines to be imparted to the youth.

She shared the rich history of the Council and how the organization has been an integral part of the community in Anchorage in particular and in Alaska in general.

Consul General Ferrer shared his priorities in his engagements with Alaskan officials, namely protecting and promoting the rights and welfare of Filipinos and Filipino Americans in the state, and enhancing economic relations, including learning from Alaska’s experience on renewable energy and promoting the Philippines as an ideal destination for Alaskan companies to expand their businesses.

Alaska World Affairs Council is a non-partisan, non-profit organization focused on hosting meaningful, informative and interactive international education programs for the people of Alaska. END
