Consul General Ferrer Urges Thomasians USA to “Spread the Light” in 37th Anniversary Ball

CONSUL GENERAL FERRER URGES THOMASIANS USA TO “SPREAD THE LIGHT” IN 37TH ANNIVERSARY BALL

Consul General Neil Ferrer keynoted the 37th anniversary ball and alumni homecoming of Thomasians USA, an alumni group of the University of Santo Tomas (UST), on 6 July 2024 at Basque Cultural Center in South San Francisco, California.

Consul General Ferrer said that he values the engagements and partnerships of the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco with the UST alumni community, citing the art exhibit of the Magilas Art Group of Thomasian Medicine Class 1981 that was held at the Philippine Center in San Francisco in October 2023. He exhorted Thomasians USA to “continue ‘spreading the light,’ lumina pandit, and inspiring other groups to unite towards common goals, in the Filipino spirit of bayanihan and pakikipag-kapwa.”

Thomasians USA, considered the only organized group of UST alumni in the U.S., was formed in 1987 with Alice Peña Bulos of South San Francisco, regarded as the “Grand Dame of Filipino American Politics,” as its founding president.
