FILIPINO DEVOTEES HONOR OUR LADY OF MANAOAG ON FEAST DAY, IN TWIN EVENTS IN THE BAY AREA

Filipino Catholics in the Bay Area celebrated the Feast Day of Our Lady of Manaoag, a revered image of the Virgin Mary in the Philippines, in twin events marking the 26th year of the celebration by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco.

Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil joined the festivities in honor of the Lady at Saint Gregory Church in San Mateo, California on 27 April 2024, while Vice Consul Adrian Baccay attended the celebration at San Bruno Church in San Bruno, California on 28 April 2024. The Eucharistic celebrations in the two events were presided over by Filipino priest, Reverend Father Mark Reburiano.

The Lady’s statue is a 17th-century ivory and silver image of Mary with the Child Jesus, which was brought to the Philippines from Spain via the Manila-Acapulco, Mexico galleon trade. The Lady’s basilica in Manaoag, Pangasinan is a popular Catholic pilgrimage site in the Philippines. (San Francisco PCG photos)
