CONSUL GENERAL AND MRS. FERRER WATCH DOCUMENTARY ON “FORGOTTEN DANCES OF THE PHILIPPINES”

Consul General Neil Ferrer and Madame Miriam Ferrer attended a private screening of the documentary film “Forgotten Dances of the Philippines”, produced as part of the FolkDocs project of San Francisco State University, at SF State’s Marcus Hall on 23 February 2024. They were joined by SF State Professor Miriam Smith, and the film’s director Jeremiah Ysip.

The 48-minute documentary follows the journey of SF State’s Fil-Am Dance Professor Ray Tadio, whose work uncovered two folk dances from his home province of Zambales (Rigodon di Honor di San Narciso, and Baile en Honor a Maria) and a mimetic dance of the Aetas (Talipe). The documentary also featured Professor Tadio’s trip to Cebu for the 2020 Sinulog Festival. (San Francisco PCG photos)
