PH CONSULATE IN SF PROVIDES 820 SERVICES TO FILIPINOS AND FIL-AMS IN ANCHORAGE; COMMENDS PH HONORARY CONSUL TO ALASKA, AND MEETS MS. ALASKA’S TEEN
An 11-member team headed by Consul General Neil Frank R. Ferrer traveled to Anchorage, Alaska to conduct a consular outreach on 9-11 December 2023 at the Sheraton Anchorage Hotel. The team provided a total of 820 services, including passport, dual citizenship, notarial, civil registration and overseas voting registration services to Filipinos and Filipino-Americans in the area. 258 individuals applied for passports, 237 for dual citizenship, 26 for notarial services, 30 for civil registration, and 269 for overseas voting registration services.

Applicants expressed their appreciation to the team for conducting the outreach even during wintertime. The applicants said that with the outreach, there is no more need for them to travel all the way to San Francisco, take a few days off from work, and spend a considerable amount of money, to be able to get the services that they need.
Honorary Consul to Alaska Rebecca Carrillo, together with the president of the Alaska Consular Outreach Mission Committee (Alaska COM), Mr. Quint Bagcal, led a group of volunteers in providing support to the team, in terms of registration, crowd control, information assistance, liaison services with the hotel management, and maintaining order inside the venue.
On the sidelines of the consular outreach, Consul General Ferrer met with community leaders and volunteers, during which he also took the opportunity to present to Honorary Consul Carrillo a certificate of commendation for her exemplary service as PH Honorary Consul in Alaska. Consul General Ferrer likewise read and presented to HonCon Carrillo, the letter of Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique A. Manalo, thanking her for her services.

In the same gathering, Alaska COM lauded the outstanding work of Honorary Consul Rebecca Carrillo especially in uniting the Alaska FilAm community in Anchorage and getting them to work together in helping organize the outreach. A certificate of recognition was awarded to her by Alaska COM president Quint Bagcal.

During the outreach, Consul General Ferrer also had an opportunity to meet Ms. Alaska Teen, Fil-Am Lyncie Adams, whose mother, Maila, applied for dual citizenship during the outreach. At 18, Lindsay is now a licensed pilot and a figure skating instructor. She will compete in the Ms. Teen USA to be held in Orlando, Florida in January 2024, representing the State of Alaska.- END
