PH CONSULATE GRACES CANON KIP’S 25TH ANNUAL FLORES DE MAYO, FEATURING SAN FRANCISCO’S LOLAs AND LOLOs

Philippine Consul General Neil Ferrer attended the 25th annual Flores de Mayo and Santacruzan of the Episcopal Community Services of San Francisco’s Canon Kip Senior Center, held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts on 30 May 2023. Joining the Consul General were Deputy Consul General Raquel Solano, Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil, and Vice Consul Adrian Baccay.

In his remarks, Consul General Ferrer thanked the lolas and lolos present “for keeping [Filipino cultural] traditions alive… [and] for leading the way for the Filipino American Community in San Francisco.” He added that by honoring the pioneers of the city’s Fil-Am Community, the event is a fitting conclusion to the nationwide celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month.

The Canon Kip Senior Center provides health and legal assistance, meal programs, and socialization opportunities to elders aged 60 and above, offering their services in English, Filipino, Cebuano and Ilonggo. It is located at SOMA Pilipinas, San Francisco’s official Filipino cultural heritage district. (San Francisco PCG photos)
