Philippine Consul General Neil Ferrer welcomed Filipino entrepreneur Raquel Choa, “Chocolate Queen” of Cebu and owner of Ralfe Gourmet and The Chocolate Chamber, during the latter’s call at the Philippine Center in San Francisco on 14 October 2022.

During the call, Ms. Choa prepared an elaborate set-up at the Sentro Rizal to present the products from The Chocolate Chamber and conduct a sikwate (hot chocolate) serving and drinking ceremony which, she hopes, will be known around the world as a Filipino cultural tradition.

At the Consulate’s Merkado Kultura Filipino makers’ market, Ms. Choa conducted a chocolate, cheese, and wine-pairing pop-up event on 15 October 2022. The audience were served with quickmelt tablea topped with their preferred cheese, hand-rolled truffle paired with red wine, white wine paired with choco-mango nugget with sea salt and white chocolate with cacao nibs, and Jamon Serrano with Cacao de Bola shavings.

Ms. Choa is in the United States to promote Philippine cocoa and chocolate products, and to explore opportunities in the U.S. market. (San Francisco PCG photos)
