PH CONSULATE IN SF, NEW FYLPRO PRESIDENT DISCUSS PLANS TO DEEPEN FIL-AM YOUTH ENGAGEMENT

Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Neil Frank R. Ferrer on 20 January 2022 virtually met with Ms. Leezel Tanglao, the new President of the Filipino Young Leaders Program (FYLPRO), during which they discussed ways to deepen the engagement of the Filipino American youth in Philippine and Filipino American community affairs. This comes as FYLPRO opens its membership to young Filipino Americans who have not been part of FYLPRO’s annual immersion program in the Philippines, which has been temporarily halted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the meeting, Ms. Tanglao outlined FYLPRO’s accomplishments in 2021, including the conduct of the first-ever Filipino Young Leaders Conference (FYLPROCON) in November 2021, the signing of the 2023-2025 Memorandum of Understanding with the Philippine Embassy in the United States and the Ayala Foundation in December 2021, and the year-round Tayo Helpdesk on COVID-19 information for Filipino Americans.

Consul General Ferrer assured Ms. Tanglao of the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco’s support to the programs and initiatives of FYLPRO, and invited the new FYLPRO President to conduct an outreach in the U.S. Pacific Northwest.

Joining the Philippine Consul General during the online meeting were Deputy Consul General Raquel R. Solano, Consul and Economic Section Head Vanessa G. Bago-Llona, Vice Consul and Cultural, Community & Public Information Section Head Adrian Audrey L. Baccay, and Tourism Attaché Soleil P. Tropicales. (San Francisco PCG screenshot)
