10 August 2021 – Twenty-six (26) Filipino-American youths participated in this year’s Filipino cultural immersion program and received their certificates of completion in a graduation ceremony held on 06 August 2021 at the St. Raymond Church in Dublin, CA.

The youths, aged 7-16 years old, also presented cultural performances, including a Tinikling dance and a musical rendition using indigenous Filipino musical instruments, during an event attended by Philippine Consulate representatives, board members of the University of the Philippines Alumni Association- San Francisco (UPAA-SF), cultural campers and their parents, and community leaders.

Administered by the University of the Philippines Alumni Association – San Francisco (UPAA-SF), the program seeks to connect Fil-Am youths to their Filipino roots and inspire them to “understand, appreciate and promote their culture.” The program involves learning and sharing by the participants about their Filipino heritage, including in such areas as Filipino language, literature, history, cuisine, dance, music, native wear, art, and martial arts. Community leaders in the San Francisco Bay Area and UP alumni trained in Philippine Studies and Culture volunteer as teachers and staff for the program. END
