ASSUMES POST, CALLS ON AMBASSADOR JOSE MANUEL ROMUALDEZ

SAN FRANCISCO, 21 January 2021 –  Mr. Neil Frank R. Ferrer has assumed his post as Consul General of the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, which has jurisdiction over 10 states in Northwestern Pacific U.S.  He arrived in San Francisco with his family on 20 January 2021.  

Consul General Ferrer called on Philippine Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Jose Manuel G. Romualdez, virtually on 21 January 2021. 

Ambassador Romualdez welcomed Consul General Ferrer and wished him well on his new post. Consul General Ferrer emphasized his commitment to be of service to the Filipino American community and to continue to improve consular services for the public. 

Before his latest appointment, Consul General Ferrer served as Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila. He also served as Consul General of the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver, Canada from 2013 to 2018.

The Consul General is a career diplomat and brings with him 25 years of experience in the Philippine Foreign Service. His other foreign service postings included serving as Minister and Consul General and Alternate Permanent Representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization in Ottawa, and First Secretary and Consul and Alternate Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization from 2003 to 2009 in London. He also served as Third Secretary and Vice Consul at the Philippine Embassy in Beijing. 

He finished his Master of Arts in International Boundaries, with Distinction, at Durham University in the United Kingdom in 1999. He completed the course work of the Master of Science in Economics at De La Salle University and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of the Philippines. 

Consul General Ferrer is recipient of a distinguished award for Filipino diplomats, the Gawad Mabini, with the rank of Dakilang Kamanong (Grand Cross), conferred by the President of the Republic of the Philippines in 2010.He is married to Ms. Miriam Manaog-Ferrer and they have four children./ END
