Philippine Consulate in San Francisco Invites Fil-Am Community to Virtual Event with Fil-Am Women Trailblazers in Silicon Valley
SAN FRANCISCO, 25 March – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco is inviting Filipino American communities in the U.S. to watch its online presentation featuring Filipino American women trailblazers in Silicon Valley on 26 March at 6 PM Pacific Time via Facebook.com/PHinSF.
The virtual event dubbed, “A Conversation with Filipino-American Women in Technology,” will feature Filipino women who have been successful in the high technology industry and are making positive changes through their work and advocacy. This is in line with Post’s aim to harness the power of storytelling and help inspire Filipinos from all walks of life, especially young Filipino women, to achieve their highest potentials, especially in the technology sector.
The online event will feature Fil-Am women including philanthropist and nonprofit group PhilDev Trustee Ms. Maria Banatao, Netflix Director of Encoding Technologies Ms. Anne Aaron, Asana Head of Investor Relations Ms. Catherine Buan, Geo Data Ops Program Manager at Google Maps Ms. Alexandria Chu, and Filipino Americans in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) FASTER founder Ms. Erin Pangilinan. Filipino trailblazer and PhilDev Founder and Tallwood Venture Capital Founder and Managing Partner Mr. Dado Banatao, will also serve as a special guest. The virtual forum is hosted by Ms. Fatima Y. David, Global Philanthropy Chair for Asiapacforce at Salesforce.
“We are pleased to have our Filipino-American women trailblazers in the online presentation to tell their stories and inspire more Filipino and Filipino-American girls and women to follow their dreams and become leaders themselves in the field of science, technology and related areas,” said Consul General Neil Ferrer.
“We also want to highlight the contributions of our Filipino Americans in the field of technology and this is part of the close people-to-people relations between the Philippines and the United States, which we wish to emphasize in the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Philippines-U.S. Diplomatic Relations this year,” he added.
The Consulate General is organizing the event in celebration of International Women’s Day, Women’s History Month in the U.S. and the 75th Philippines-U.S. Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations. The Consulate also uploaded the campaign poster “Humans of DFA: Juana Laban sa Pandemya: Kaya!” on its social media accounts in honor of the DFA’s female personnel. END.
